How to translate a video to English

  1. 01

    Open the video

Drop a video in any of about 100 languages — it's recognised by itself.

  2. 02

    Transcribe and translate

The original is written down first, and the English version is made right after it, on your device too — if you might be on mobile data, it asks before the first download.

  3. 03

    Compare and download

Switch between the original and English, then download either as Word, PDF, TXT or SRT subtitles.

Why use Cutlia for this

Both versions

Keep the transcript in the original language and its English translation, and switch between them with one click.

Same speakers, same times

The English text keeps the speakers and timestamps, so you can still jump to any moment.

English subtitles

Download the translation as SRT or VTT subtitles, timed to the speech.

Works in 100 languages

The spoken language is detected by itself, and speech in any of them can be turned into English. Accuracy is best in the most widely spoken ones.

Frequently asked questions

Which languages can be translated?

Speech in about 100 languages — Spanish, French, German, Croatian, Arabic, Chinese and many more — can be turned into English text. Translating into other languages isn't available.

How good is the translation?

Good enough to follow a talk or an interview, best in widely spoken languages. It's a machine translation, so check names, numbers and specialist terms before you publish it.

Why does translating take longer?

The English version is a second listen to the whole video, with speech recognition made for translating — prepared on your device the first time you use it. Keep the tab open until it's done.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. Cutlia processes your video directly in your browser using WebAssembly and your device's hardware. The file never leaves your computer or phone, so it stays completely private.
