How to convert MP4 to MPG
- 01
Open your MP4
Drop the MP4 — or any other video.
- 02
Keep MPG selected
For a DVD, turn on “Ready for a DVD” and pick PAL or NTSC.
- 03
Convert and download
Your device makes the MPEG-2 file — with MP2 sound, or Dolby Digital when it's for a DVD.
Why use Cutlia for this
DVD-ready
720 × 576 at 25 fps (PAL) or 720 × 480 at 29.97 fps (NTSC), 16:9 or 4:3, DVD bitrates and Dolby Digital sound.
Plain MPEG-2 too
Without the DVD setting, the MPG keeps your video's size (up to 1080p), for players and programs that want MPEG-2.
Made on your device
Browsers can't make MPEG-2 themselves; Cutlia's built-in encoder does, so it takes longer than MP4.
Frequently asked questions
Can I burn the MPG to a DVD?
Yes: turn on “Ready for a DVD”, then open the MPG in a DVD authoring program (such as DVDStyler) to make a disc for DVD players. Cutlia makes the video, not the disc.
PAL or NTSC?
PAL for Europe, Australia and much of Asia and Africa; NTSC for North America, Japan and South Korea. Pick your country's: players in PAL countries usually play NTSC discs too, but not always the other way round.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Cutlia processes your video directly in your browser using WebAssembly and your device's hardware. The file never leaves your computer or phone, so it stays completely private.
Is it really free?
Yes. Cutlia is free to use with no account, no trial and no watermark on your export. The site is paid for by the ads on it, and your files never leave your device.
