Why use Cutlia for this
Every kind of AVI
DivX and Xvid films, Motion JPEG from old digital cameras and H.264 AVIs all become H.264 MP4.
Sound sorted too
MP3, PCM and ADPCM sound becomes AAC, in sync with the picture.
Plays everywhere
Phones, Macs, smart TVs, social media and editors open MP4 — many no longer open AVI.
Frequently asked questions
Will my AVI lose quality?
The picture is re-encoded once, to H.264, at a bitrate meant to look like the original. AVIs that already hold H.264 are converted too, as AVI's timing doesn't carry over to MP4 as it is.
My AVI won't open. Why?
Most AVIs work. If yours doesn't, it may be damaged or use a very rare codec — try playing it in VLC; if VLC can't either, the file itself is likely broken.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Cutlia processes your video directly in your browser using WebAssembly and your device's hardware. The file never leaves your computer or phone, so it stays completely private.
Is it really free?
Yes. Cutlia is free to use with no account, no trial and no watermark on your export. The site is paid for by the ads on it, and your files never leave your device.
